The Director ensures all program goals are met, engages the broad community in civic affairs to facilitate more community and economic development, and improves the quality of life for all, especially lower-income households in the region.

 

- Windgap, Pen Argyl, Bangor, or Portland, PA area -  $70,000 - Salary - Full Time -​

Essential Functions

 

General Management/ Administration

 

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and management that reflect the mission and the values of the agency.

  • Supervises all operations and activities of the program.

  • If applicable, supervises all members of the program staff; participating in hiring and development of staff, as well as evaluation and termination.

  • Along with volunteer leadership, serves as spokesperson for the program and fulfills regular public speaking engagements.

  • Represents the program in the community through coalitions, boards and the human services network.

  • Provides staff support for program committees.

  • Leads the evaluation of program including and assuring programming addresses priority needs - adjusting as necessary.

  • Generates a monthly activity report for CALV staff and the SBR steering committee.

Program Development

 

  • Provides information, ideas and consultation for program development and long-range planning.

  • Works with volunteer leadership and CALV to develop an annual work plan.

  • Ensures all goals and performance targets of work plan are met.

  • Assists with planning and development of new programs and initiatives.

  • Assists with fundraising activities to ensure adequate funding to meet program goals.

  • Builds, maintains and nurtures collaborative relationships within the community.

  • Ensures that programmatic and contracted goals are met.

  • Advocates on behalf of program participants and promotes the development of their leadership skills.

Financial Management

 

  • Assists with development of program budget.

  • Reviews fiscal reports for adherence to budget.

  • Reviews expenditures to ensure that projects are completed within budget and grant guidelines.

 

Grant Administration

  • Provides necessary content for grants/proposals as needed.

  • Maintains compliance with grant/contract requirements.

  • Administers grants; oversees major projects.

  • Compiles program data and submits reports as required by funding sources.

Program-Specific Requirements

​

  • Promotes regional cooperation through relationship building with residents, borough officials, and others.

  • Works with residents of boroughs to enhance civic responsibility and citizen participation.

  • Attends meetings of borough residents and meets with local residents, acquiring a thorough knowledge of the borough, its problems, and its residents.

  • Works with residents, borough officials, other stakeholders, consultants and contractors to accomplish the program's goals and objectives.

  • Informs businesses and borough residents of available services and funding for small businesses.

  • Develops relationships with borough residents to determine their needs and concerns, especially as related to community and economic development.

  • Works with volunteer leadership of Slate Belt Rising to develop plans for addressing problems identified by borough residents.

  • Coordinates and improves physical improvement projects in the boroughs.

  • Provides information and referrals to individuals interested in and in need of help accessing community resources.

 

Other

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Site: Bangor, Pennsylvania

Occasional local and out of town travel are required.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree required: Business Administration, Public Administration, or other field related to community development

  • Three to five years related experience

  • Experience in community and economic development and planning preferred

  • Management experience preferred

  • Willingness to work within an empowerment model of service

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer skills

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required

  • Personal vehicle or access to independent transportation required

  • Proof of motor vehicle insurance (for use of personal vehicle)

  • Criminal Record Check required

  • Child Abuse History Clearance Required
